Better Water Quality With Under Sink Water Filter
In order to clean and filter water, under sink water filter systems have to be connected to water pipes beneath the sink. As such, compared to other water filtration systems, under sink water filter systems can be a bit more complicated to install because of the need to connect them to a water pipe. Yet, after installation of the under sink water filter system, only light maintenance is needed. While under sink water filter systems offer superior water filtration capabilities than refrigerator type filtration systems, they are usually less effective compared to pitcher filter systems. This is due to the fact that under sink water filter systems use a water filtration process that involves two stages.
Under sink water filter systems need to take up space under kitchen sinks, which is a common disadvantage amongst such systems. Also, compared to other types of water filter systems, it costs more to install an under sink water filter system, which is another disadvantage against them. For some under sink water filter systems, however, the price of the system includes the installation cost so the customer can be assured that no additional costs need to be paid. An under sink water filter system costs approximately around a hundred and fifty dollars, although the price range can vary. Most of these systems come with a minimum of one replacement filter so customers need not buy a replacement filter at the time of purchase.
It is common for an under sink water filter system to come with a separate faucet to dispense purified water for consumption, so as to allow the existing faucet to be used for other purposes such as washing dishes. When the purified water is reserved just for drinking purposes, it allows the purified to be used in a more efficient manner.
Most of the time, these separate faucets wonderfully fit into existing holes for the sprayer, which thereby eliminates the need to make any more holes on the sink top. With the help of specialized tools such as a SW-5 housing wrench, some customers will be able to complete installation of their under sink water filter system by themselves, without the need of any professional assistance whatsoever.
A large percentage of these under sink water filter systems are equipped with an alarm, which issues an alert when the water filter needs replacement. These water filters are effective for up to about half a year, which is on par with the lifespan of refrigerator type water filters. The replacement process for the under sink water filter is relatively simple - just unlock and remove the old filter and snap the new one into position. After the filter has been replaced, it will able to function in its full capacity for the coming six months.
